Opera Outdoors on Stony Run: NOBODY IS EVER MISSING

October 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT

A message from Director, Juanita Rockwell –

When Mind on Fire approached me to direct the premiere of NOBODY IS EVER MISSING, a new opera by Tim Holt after the novel by Catherine Lacey – Time Out called it “the (hands down) best book of the year” – I immediately felt it should be performed outside, immersed in the landscape, at sunset.

We were thrilled to be able to develop the piece and perform it in a sold-out run at The Voxel Theatre, back in January – The Voxel is a Baltimore treasure, and an unbeatable resource for artists developing new work!

And now, NOBODY IS EVER MISSING returns in the way it was meant to be seen and heard: in the great outdoors at sunset!

Washington Classical Review described January’s production as “a compelling and immersive interior journey,” “precisely distilling the feeling of the nothingness and drift of wandering alone with your thoughts,” with “innovative staging.”

You can find a clip of the January performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f4U3RI5kic

Lacey has taken the novel’s title from the last line of John Berryman’s haunting poem, DREAM SONG 29, and here is a clip from Holt’s setting of the poem, within the opera: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE2hsZfuPGq/

Come see/hear the new production! We’ll be replacing the walls with trees, and switching out video mapping for the meandering Jones Falls. This will be a one-of-a-kind limited run performance and you do NOT want to miss it.
