The bill to remove trash incineration from the RPS is the Reclaim Renewable Energy Act (RREA) (HB220/SB10). After years of effort, we’ve made significant progress this year:
Senate President Bill Ferguson has stepped in as the lead sponsor of the bill. Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott has listed the bill as one of the city’s priorities for the legislative session. This is a crucial year to get this bill passed, and we need your help!
So, we invite you to join us for a rally to show support for the Reclaim Renewable Energy Act (RREA) (HB220/SB10) on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lawyers Mall, Annapolis (near College Ave and Bladen St, by the Thurgood Marshall Statue). The rally, hosted by the South Baltimore Community Land Trust, Coal Free Curtis Bay, Clean Water Action, Food & Water Watch, and Progressive Maryland, will feature community leaders and political allies. It will be held just before the 1:00 PM House hearing for the RREA.
Your presence will help us send a powerful message to legislators that this must be the year to pass the RREA and end trash incineration’s renewable energy credits.
Please RSVP today to help us coordinate transportation if needed. We look forward to seeing you there! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbsHz5fBXMGe9nxlMWxdQtZzTaIS3yAYhfaZ9j9lDAXOJVLQ/viewform
