A professorship/associate professorship in energy security, with funding for a research team

The University of Lapland (Finland) is looking for a legal scholar or a political or social scientist interested in a professorship/associate professorship on energy security. The recruited researcher will be based at the University of Lapland Faculty of Law and will work mainly in Finland. At the time of recruitment, the researcher must have been working outside Finland on a non-temporary basis. In addition to the recruited researcher’s own salary and moving expenses, the funding might include the salaries of a research team and other research costs for the next 5 years.

The researcher will focus on the regulation and governance of new vulnerabilities and security risks associated with energy transitions. With this strategic recruitment, the Faculty of Law continues to strengthen its research excellence under the auspices of the research group Law, Technology and Sustainability Transitions (LOST). This strategic recruitment is continuation to the ATLAS profiling area that focuses on legislative and policy development for sustainability transitions, with a special emphasis on the Arctic.

    If you are interested please contact vice-dean, professor (IPR) Rosa Ballardini (Rosa.Ballardini@ulapland.fi, phone +358 40 189 8816), or associate professor (energy) Sirja-Leena Penttinen (Sirja-Leena.Penttinen@ulapland.fi, phone +358 40 198 5047).

This is a targeted recruitment process, and we will proceed with the appointment as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.

The Research Council of Finland will approve the precise budget for the next five years on the basis of an application, which will be prepared by the University of Lapland together with the chosen researcher.
