The Ecological Design Collective (EDC) Program Assistant
The Ecological Design Collective (EDC) is seeking an undergraduate student to assist with virtual and in-person events (e.g. promoting events on campus and online, tracking attendance, managing post-event transcription, etc.). The selected candidate will play a key role in managing social media accounts, increasing outreach and accessibility to engage a broad audience in our vision: collective reimagining towards social, economic, and environmental justice. This position is ideal for someone interested in environmental design, communication, organizing, and collaborative work in the sustainability sector.
The Ecological Design Collective is an interdisciplinary group dedicated to rethinking and reshaping human engagement with the environment. Through our innovative online platform, research, publications, and engaging programming, we aim to foster dialogue and collective action around sustainability, environmental justice, and design. We focus on making environmental imagination more equitable, accessible, and inclusive across communities.
Post about upcoming events, programming, calls for article/artist submissions, and resources from the EDC and partner organizations to EDC’s social media platforms
Monitor platforms for engagement and track questions or comments for EDC team to respond to.
Schedule posts in advance as well as posting some late-breaking content.
Attend the EDC’s virtual and in-person events (webinars, panel discussions, groundings around the Baltimore area, etc.)
For in-person events:
Hang up posters for events on and around JHU campuses
Promote events to other environmental groups throughout campus
Assist in tracking attendance
Organize attendee contact information for follow-ups
Collect post-event survey responsesFor virtual events:
Edit event transcriptions for clarity, accuracy, and readability
Ensure technical terms, names, and organizations are properly transcribed and consistent throughout
Collaborate with the EDC team to finalize edited transcripts for publication on EDC’s website or other media channels
Assist with minor administrative tasks related to event organization and documentation as neededRequirements:
· Current undergraduate student interested in environmental work and collaboration
· Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading/editing skills
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
· Strong interest in environmental design, sustainability, and related fields
