The Mountain in the Sea
What I liked: Speculative dystopia about the relationship between ecological landscapes, unfettered capitalism, and AI; our relationships to current and emerging technologies and how they create real and imagined senses of connection and disconnection; and above all, the formation of meaning and its connection to our physical bodies.
What were misses for me: Assumptions about “human nature,” the lived experiences of young women of color, the experience of connecting with a completely new-to-you culture and society.
I am curious what other’s experiences were who have read this book, and maybe how you would extend some of the seeds that were sown throughout the text!
