Fix-It Fair is a FREE, family friendly event hosted by the Station North Tool Library and open to the public. At Fix-It Fair, you’ll get help from experienced volunteers making common repairs on clothes, furniture, leather items, bikes, etc.
Register for the event! This helps us prep tools and consumables, screen for items that aren’t a good fit, and set up volunteers for success. While registration is strongly preferred; drop-ins are welcome. All participants will need to check-in their items on site.
Arrive by 2 pm. 2 Items max per person.
We are partnering with the Department of Public Works (DPW) and will be offering Textile & Electronics recycling again! Drop off your item the day of until 3 pm.
Textiles – Donate clothes, linens, or rags you no longer need. Reusable items will be sorted and sent to thrift partners, while non-reusable items will be recycled into materials like insulation or industrial wiper rags.
Electronics – Bring old electronics like phones, printers, controllers, and TVs. They will be dismantled to recover valuable materials, and harmful substances like mercury or lead will be safely removed and disposed of.
How does it work?
Visitors bring their broken items from home and work with volunteer “fixers” to diagnose and make repairs. Working together to fix broken items becomes an interactive and ongoing learning process!
What can I bring?
– Bicycles
– Clothing/textiles
– Instruments (eg. guitar in need of restringing)
– Small pieces of furniture
– Small household appliances
– Small electrical fixes
– Dull knives and tools
– Jewelry
– Toys
Will you fix it for me?
Visitors will work with our fixers to learn how to repair their items. We provide most materials for common fixes and hands-on instruction.
We make no guarantee of repairs and longer, more in-depth repairs may be referred to a local repair service.
We can guarantee we will try our best to help with your fixes!
