Alternative Proteins Alumni Panel

November 3, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Hi! I’m posting on behalf of the Alternative Protein Project at JHU to announce an upcoming alumni panel on Friday, November 3rd from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Imagine Center (113 W University Pkwy)! 🥩🌱🔬Thank you to the support of the wonderful JHU Life Design team for helping us organize this jam-packed event featuring awesome Hopkins alumni at Wildtype, Impossible Foods, Perfect Day, and the Micronutrient Forum. There will also be some yummy dinner for attendees.

The event will begin with introductions from each alumnus, along with a few general questions posed to all of them. We will then divide into breakout rooms where attendees can ask questions to each alumnus individually in a smaller setting!

ANYONE can join! Can’t join us in person? A ZOOM option will be available at bit.ly/jhu-app-zoom .

Zachary Smolsky is the Senior Product and Program Manager at Wildtype, the world’s first cultivated seafood company! He graduated from Hopkins in 2015 with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Molly Gordon is a Strain Engineer at Perfect Day, a food tech company that has developed processes for creating dairy proteins by fermentation in microbiota! Molly graduated from Hopkins in 2022 with a Ph.D. in Cell Biology.

Gilbert Pasquale is an Operations Analysis Manager at Impossible Foods, a company dedicated to developing plant-based substitutes with their groundbreaking plant-based heme made via fermentation of genetically engineered yeast! Gilbert graduated from Hopkins in 2013 with a B.S. in Neuroscience.

Lais Miachon is a postdoc at the Columbia Climate School and Climate Change and Nutrition Technical Advisor at the Micronutrient Forum. She is an international development professional and researcher with extensive experience at the intersection of food, health, and the environment. She graduated from Johns Hopkins in Spring 2023 with a Ph.D. in Human Nutrition!
