In the last decade, Design thinking and Human-centered design (imagined by Ideo) have helped thousands of companies to be more sustainable and customer-oriented.
However, many designers feel that these approaches contribute to creating more problems: in the end, designing new products and services for humans adds waste and energy-consuming digital services.
Some designers have decided to focus on solving environmental issues such as global warming and biodiversity loss by shifting from Human-centered design toward Life-Centered Design.
For Jeroen Spoelstra, founder of the Life-Centered Design School, our ecosystems are so unbalanced that we need more than scientific or creative thinking. We need to combine both into a Life-Centered approach. Looking at the current economic system’s devastating effect on our environment, we must design beyond human needs, give biological ecosystems and non-user communities a voice, and vote to regenerate all life.
In this webinar, I’ll interview Jeroen to learn more about this emerging approach to design.
