Mushroom City Art Festival first began in 2013 as an all ages, free and for donation festival to educate and create magic around all things fungi. Mushroom City has been comprised of educational talks, forays, art installations, music, food, children’s crafts, and more.
This year Mushroom City is hosting a mini event called Forays & Crankies to help raise money for the return of our full festival next year!
What’s a foray you ask? This is a foraging experience where you will be lead on a guided walk by a foray leader to learn to identify fungi and maybe some plants in the woods of Gwynns Falls Leakin Park! The forays leave by the fire pit. See the schedule of foray leaders posted below!
What is a crankie? A crankie is an illuminated story told on a paper scroll by a storyteller/artist. This story is rolled across a screen and is accompanied by sometimes also music. Mushroom City crankies will be shared around the fire beginning at dark-o-clock (aka 6:30; ) We look forward to seeing you there!
$10-20 sliding scale donation at door to support the return of Mushroom City Art Festival next year. No one turned away for lack of funds.
