Ready to dream?

The Jones Falls River has been partially hidden below I-83 for over 50 years, overlooked and mistreated. How might we radically reimagine our river as the center of a reconnected and ecologically vibrant Baltimore?

Jones Falls 2076 invites residents, artists, designers, community leaders, ecologists, environmentalists, and other creative thinkers to envision aspirational futures for our river, half a century from now. A series of speculative visioning workshops, exhibits, and publications encourage radical dreaming and summon collective action on the future of the Jones Falls River.

We’re looking beyond the status quo for aspirational, creative, dream-like, radical, unexpected visions for the future of the Jones Falls.

We are facilitating a series of six River Reimagining Workshops in 2026 to engage nearly 200 diverse stakeholders across Baltimore in imagining aspirational future visions for our river. Each 90-minute workshop is limited to 25-30 participants to engender creativity, participation, and collaboration among a specific stakeholder group, including: river and watershed advocates, designers and planners, environmental activists, students and educators, civic representatives and policymakers, and scientists. The ideas generated in the River Reimagining Workshops will be featured in Confluence: Reimagining Baltimore’s Waterways, a forthcoming exhibition at AREA 405 opening on May 08, 2026.
