SUMMARY:Herbal Compass CSA: Navigating Healing Throughout the Calendar Wheel
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to reconnect\, reawaken\, and realign with your body’s innate wisdom—the deep intelligence that guides healing not only for yourself\, but for the greater collective? \nIn a world shaped by social and political division and rapid technological growth\, our senses are overwhelmed and our hearts and minds strained\, as rates of anxiety\, depression\, and physical dis-ease continue to rise. Disconnection deepens—from ourselves\, from one another\, and from the living web that sustains us. Yet a fundamental truth remains: the Earth’s body and the human body are one and the same. \nWhat if the ancient yet ever-relevant practices of plant medicine and land stewardship could help restore that connection\, support healing\, & cultivate compassion as a form of radical activism? \nStep into the HERBAL SANCTUARY as we navigate toward a deeper connection with the place we call home–the land under our feet & the body we carry. \nJoin artist\, plant medicine educator\, and clinical herbalist Alyssa Dennis for Herbal Compass CSA: Navigating Healing Throughout the Calendar Wheel\, meeting one Saturday per month from March – October. This program invites you to experience the calendar not in a linear fashion\, but as a revolving wheel. Unlike a traditional CSA that provides vegetables\, this program centers on medicinal plants—growing\, harvesting\, identifying\, and transforming them into remedies. You’ll receive hands-on training in botanical therapeutics\, plant ID\, and medicine-making while creating your own preparations to take home. Herbal medicine has always been a collective practice rooted in trust\, transparency\, and sovereignty over our health. You will be immersed in one of the most biodiverse urban environments\, safely tasting\, touching\, and smelling medicinal plants while learning to integrate them into your daily life and expanding your home apothecary. \nThis immersive program fosters a deep awareness of kin-centric relationships that includes discussions about seasonal cycles\, plant allies\, and holistic well-being.\nEach month focuses on one or two plant allies\, their therapeutic benefits\, and seasonal wellness practices aligned with nature’s rhythms. As we walk the calendar wheel together we’ll discuss the study of the Chinese/Celtic Five Elements or Phases (Earth\, Fire\, Water\, Wood\, & Metal)\, to explore how cyclical rhythms shape our internal & external environments which influence health as we embody this knowledge through the act of crafting medicine whether it’s a tinctures\, salves\, oxymels\, vinegars\, and infused oils. Each element moves through alchemical phases that guide both plant medicine and human well-being. \nFor example\, Sept & Oct is a time of discernment and boundary-setting before winter’s inward turn. We ask: What needs to be released\, and what needs to be nourished? Astragalus root supports this process by strengthening boundaries while nourishing and protecting the body. \nAs many herbalists note\, the plant most suited to support your body often grows right outside your door—within your bioregion. Mama Earth is calling you home and she can’t wait for you to join us. \n“We can support the earth by staying solid in our cycles\, as much as we can\, with those of the earth\, moon & sun.” – Judith Berger\, Herbal Ritual \nLocation: at the Eclipta Herbal sanctuary in the Hamilton neighborhood of Baltimore\, MD (address sent after sign up) \n**Space is limited to an intimate 15 spots** Spots fill up quickly. Sign up today! \nSave 10% if you register before Feb 1st with coupon code compass2026 \nSave an extra 10% when you do all 8 sessions! \nFirst session starts March 28th. SUMMARY:Workshop #3: River Reimagining Workshop: Imagining alternative futures for the Jones Falls River
DESCRIPTION:Ready to dream?\nRiver Reimagining Workshop:\nImagining alternative futures for the Jones Falls River \nYou’re invited to participate in our series of River Reimagining Workshops\, along with collaborators from Morgan State University School of Architecture + Planning. \nWORKSHOP #3: FOR STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS\nWednesday\, April 8\, 2026\n10:00 am –12:00 pm\nMorgan State University\, Center for Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies (CBEIS) Room 235\n5201 Perring Parkway\, Baltimore\, MD 21214 (See map) \nThis event is funded by the Yale ASCEND Grant for Collaborative Teaching that supports ARCH304/ENST739 Urban Design and Human Behavior course. \nThe Jones Falls River has been partially hidden below I-83 for over 50 years\, overlooked and mistreated. How might we radically reimagine our river as the center of a reconnected and ecologically vibrant Baltimore? \nJones Falls 2076 is a speculative design project to envision aspirational and quixotic futures for the river in 2076\, half a century from now. This series of River Reimagining workshops\, art exhibitions\, discussions\, and publications will encourage radical dreaming and summon collective action on the future of the Jones Falls. \nJoin one of our six River Reimagining Workshops to think beyond the status quo and share your creative\, dream-like\, radical\, unexpected visions for the future of the Jones Falls. \nEach 90-minute workshop is limited to 25–30 participants to engender creativity\, participation\, and collaboration among a specific stakeholder group\, including: river and watershed advocates\, designers and planners\, environmental and community activists\, students and educators\, civic representatives and policymakers\, and scientists. \nThe ideas generated in the River Reimagining Workshops will be featured in Confluence: Reimagining Baltimore’s Waterways\, a forthcoming exhibition at AREA 405 opening on May 8\, 2026.\nThe Reimagining River Workshops are free\, but registration is required as space is limited. \nQuestions?\nhello@jonesfalls2076.org\nwww.jonesfalls2076.org\nFollow us on Instagram at @jonesfalls2076
