DESCRIPTION:Hi! I’m posting on behalf of the Alternative Protein Project at JHU to announce an upcoming alumni panel on Friday\, November 3rd from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Imagine Center (113 W University Pkwy)! 🥩🌱🔬Thank you to the support of the wonderful JHU Life Design team for helping us organize this jam-packed event featuring awesome Hopkins alumni at Wildtype\, Impossible Foods\, Perfect Day\, and the Micronutrient Forum. There will also be some yummy dinner for attendees. \nThe event will begin with introductions from each alumnus\, along with a few general questions posed to all of them. We will then divide into breakout rooms where attendees can ask questions to each alumnus individually in a smaller setting! \nANYONE can join! Can’t join us in person? A ZOOM option will be available at bit.ly/jhu-app-zoom . \nSpeakers: \nZachary Smolsky is the Senior Product and Program Manager at Wildtype\, the world’s first cultivated seafood company! He graduated from Hopkins in 2015 with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. \nMolly Gordon is a Strain Engineer at Perfect Day\, a food tech company that has developed processes for creating dairy proteins by fermentation in microbiota! SUMMARY:Join Us for a Thoughtful Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Within hours of circling the Thanksgiving dinner table and reflecting on “what we are thankful for\,” Americans are bombarded by department store circulars and flashing web banners stoking seemingly endless consumer desires. Even as we fall prey to these enticements\, we recognize at some level that our appetite for the newest tech and the snazziest fashions is destroying the planet—and cheapening our sense of what really matters. \n\n\n\nJoin the EDC and recover from the erratic Thanksgiving Holidays this “Thoughtful Thursday” (our rejoinder to the consumerist excesses of Black Friday/ Cyber Monday) by crafting some hand-made holiday cards for family and friends during this month’s in-person Tide Pool Social. Meet us in Red Emma’s in the Café on Thursday\, November 30th from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Snip\, paste\, draw\, paint\, and craft holiday greetings and warm sentiments with us over hot drinks from Red Emma’s cooperatively-owned café space. (We won’t judge a consumerist impulse to pick up some books in the bookstore—it is a co-op\, after all!) \n\n\n\nWe will provide blank cards and envelopes\, collage materials\, oil pastels\, gluesticks\, watercolors\, and colored pencils; you are welcome to bring magazines/ collage materials/ other art supplies\, for yourself or to share! Kindly RSVP so we have an idea of how many materials to bring. Feel free to bring a friend and share the invite widely!
