    Hi Everyone,

I’m new to the network and hope it’s okay to share a course I run that I think might resonate with many of you.

The Beautiful Economies Learning Lab is a 6-week online course (2 hours/week) that explores what I call “economics from the inside out.” We examine how the economic system shapes our attention and values, and uncover the invisible economic stories embedded in our culture that influence our choices.

The course draws on the work of Chilean economist Manfred Max-Neef and his Human Scale Development Approach, alongside thinkers like Riane Eisler and Bernard Lietaer. The aim is to connect our “inner economy” to the “outer economy” to facilitate deeper culture change, where degrowth becomes the natural, logical next step.

Why this matters for ecological design work: Many ecological designers find themselves needing to justify regenerative approaches to clients or stakeholders still operating within extractive economic frameworks. Participants have found the course particularly valuable for bridging this gap. It offers accessible, embodied activities that help people understand how the economy actually works, making it easier to advocate for truly sustainable design solutions.

    Course details:

    • 6 weekly online sessions (2 hours each)
    • Reflective dialogue, somatic practices, and interactive exercises
    • Topics include: reframing economic value, Barefoot Economics, the role of care and invisible work, alternative currencies, and creating regenerative economic visions
    • Sliding scale fees, with a 20% discount for network members

If you or anyone you know might be interested, I’d be grateful if you’d share this.
