    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Position title: Postdoc Employee, Political Economy of Climate Policy

    Salary range: The UC postdoc salary scales set the minimum pay determined by experience level at appointment. The current minimum salary range for this position is $66,737-$74,425. Salaries above the minimum may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

    Percent time: 100

    Anticipated start: as early as possible, negotiable

    Position duration: Initial appointment is for 2 years with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Berkeley Economy and Society Initiative seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the area of the political economy of climate policy and the energy transition.

    The Postdoctoral Scholar will be part of the Berkeley Economy and Society Initiative (BESI), a campuswide program to advance new political and economic thought on urgent societal challenges. BESI’s climate cluster conducts research and engagement on climate politics and policy, with a focus on the intersection of climate and economic policymaking. Jonas Meckling directs the cluster and is the faculty lead for the position, while other faculty may be involved in projects. Areas of research interest include but are not limited to the intersection of climate policy and economic policy broadly understood. Specific interests relate to the greening of innovation, industrial, trade, development, monetary, and fiscal policy. We welcome international political economy, comparative political economy, or regional/country perspectives as well as firm-centered approaches.

    Applicants are expected to pitch their existing research and possible areas of collaboration. They may also contribute to possible projects of collaboration proposed by us.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    PhD or equivalent international degree or enrolled in such a program.
