Communities on platform (development of groups):
- No introduction when you open platform, and so we need it because it only opens as a feed – How do we improve experience and engagement?
Splash page?
How can we structure people’s experience of web platform that conveys what we are doing– includes community space but isn’t exhausted by it
opening for regular useers makes sense for timeline/ don’t want a splash feed when I am already aware of what EDC does
opening for new users may open to something else: ‘pick 5 interests’ to create a customized experienced –> maybe autopopulate on feed about the new member that joined
deeper difference between log out page and regular
Different login sections? First field of vision may be join us with a moving graphic, so landing page is encouraging to login/ join

4. page about projects we are involved in/ blurbs/ their own pages?
projects could be also individual edc curators projects (jones falls (Carissa and Lee), aqua (Nicole))
must be intuitive and just connect with members and themes
won’t be paralyzed by what ‘counts’ when we feature
perhaps develop a protocol — so what counts? more than once person involved? happening through community?

what spaces host projects that is not a group? shall we have it as a tag? must be worked into architecture of groups that already exists
in an ideal world, these groups can be funded by EDC
but perhaps also just a sense of affiliation
eg. carbon leadership forum –> have just loose affiliates without necessarily being sponsored but just allies
a page featuring diff projects just losely affiliated bec there aren’t enough (climate imaginarium, green falls, ecoarts, ecoanthros are only accessible ones)
diff bw a group with shared interests talking vs groups who talk to each other
we have 3 things:
– people coming together to talk about shared interest
– loose affiliations
both 1 & 2 are EDC as only as social media (fine but it would be how we envision EDC)
– funded groups with their own project is EDC as something beyond convening
