2/2:
What: Rally & press conference for a “Future of Gas” proceeding by Maryland’s Public Service Commission
(see description for background & info)
When: Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 9:30am
Where: 102 St. Paul Baltimore, MD 21202.
This is two blocks north of the PSC, on the terrace on the west side of St. Paul between Fayette St. and E. Lexington.
Despite Maryland’s commitments under the Climate Solutions Now Act, our state’s utilities are continuing to increase investments in more fossil gas infrastructure and passing those costs onto ratepayers.
To fight this trend, Maryland’s Office of the People’s Counsel (OPC) submitted a petition last year calling on regulators to force utilities to plan for a managed transition away from gas.
Now, Maryland’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is considering opening a proceeding to plan for the future of fossil gas infrastructure in Maryland. Twelve states have already initiated similar “Future of Gas” proceedings, which are vital forums to plan for energy affordability and meeting state climate targets over the long term.
On July 25th at 10am, the PSC is holding an in-person hearing to consider the OPC’s petition to open a Future of Gas proceeding in Maryland.
The deadlines to testify in person & submit written testimony have passed, but you are welcome to come and rally in support of a “Future of Gas” proceeding, and meet other supporters and VIPs.
