SUMMARY:Herbal Compass CSA: Navigating Healing Throughout the Calendar Wheel
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to reconnect\, reawaken\, and realign with your body’s innate wisdom—the deep intelligence that guides healing not only for yourself\, but for the greater collective? \nIn a world shaped by social and political division and rapid technological growth\, our senses are overwhelmed and our hearts and minds strained\, as rates of anxiety\, depression\, and physical dis-ease continue to rise. Disconnection deepens—from ourselves\, from one another\, and from the living web that sustains us. Yet a fundamental truth remains: the Earth’s body and the human body are one and the same. \nWhat if the ancient yet ever-relevant practices of plant medicine and land stewardship could help restore that connection\, support healing\, & cultivate compassion as a form of radical activism? \nStep into the HERBAL SANCTUARY as we navigate toward a deeper connection with the place we call home–the land under our feet & the body we carry. \nJoin artist\, plant medicine educator\, and clinical herbalist Alyssa Dennis for Herbal Compass CSA: Navigating Healing Throughout the Calendar Wheel\, meeting one Saturday per month from March – October. This program invites you to experience the calendar not in a linear fashion\, but as a revolving wheel. Unlike a traditional CSA that provides vegetables\, this program centers on medicinal plants—growing\, harvesting\, identifying\, and transforming them into remedies. You’ll receive hands-on training in botanical therapeutics\, plant ID\, and medicine-making while creating your own preparations to take home. Herbal medicine has always been a collective practice rooted in trust\, transparency\, and sovereignty over our health. You will be immersed in one of the most biodiverse urban environments\, safely tasting\, touching\, and smelling medicinal plants while learning to integrate them into your daily life and expanding your home apothecary. \nThis immersive program fosters a deep awareness of kin-centric relationships that includes discussions about seasonal cycles\, plant allies\, and holistic well-being.\nEach month focuses on one or two plant allies\, their therapeutic benefits\, and seasonal wellness practices aligned with nature’s rhythms. As we walk the calendar wheel together we’ll discuss the study of the Chinese/Celtic Five Elements or Phases (Earth\, Fire\, Water\, Wood\, & Metal)\, to explore how cyclical rhythms shape our internal & external environments which influence health as we embody this knowledge through the act of crafting medicine whether it’s a tinctures\, salves\, oxymels\, vinegars\, and infused oils. Each element moves through alchemical phases that guide both plant medicine and human well-being. \nFor example\, Sept & Oct is a time of discernment and boundary-setting before winter’s inward turn. We ask: What needs to be released\, and what needs to be nourished? Astragalus root supports this process by strengthening boundaries while nourishing and protecting the body. \nAs many herbalists note\, the plant most suited to support your body often grows right outside your door—within your bioregion. Mama Earth is calling you home and she can’t wait for you to join us. \n“We can support the earth by staying solid in our cycles\, as much as we can\, with those of the earth\, moon & sun.” – Judith Berger\, Herbal Ritual \nLocation: at the Eclipta Herbal sanctuary in the Hamilton neighborhood of Baltimore\, MD (address sent after sign up) \n**Space is limited to an intimate 15 spots** Spots fill up quickly. Sign up today! \nSave 10% if you register before Feb 1st with coupon code compass2026 \nSave an extra 10% when you do all 8 sessions! \nFirst session starts March 28th. Registration ends March 15th \nMar. 28th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nApr. 18th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nMay 16th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nJune 13th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nJuly 11th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nAug. 8th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nSept 12th\, 1-4pm\, 2026\nOct. 10th\, 1-4pm\, 2026

SUMMARY:Solarpunk Opening at the Crow's Nest
DESCRIPTION:We can’t be what we can’t see. As fascism destroys our social systems\, the ability to imagine a way out is vital– we cannot simply return to the neoliberal structures that failed us and allowed the climate crisis in the first place. Imagining better is difficult\, radical work– perhaps more difficult and more radical than critique. What does a liberated world look like? How will we live? \nWe can’t be what we can’t see. \nSolarpunk is an artistic movement that seeks to answer these questions. In our open call\, we challenged artists to send us their fantastical visions of climate solutions. Artists from Baltimore to Mauritius answered our call\, and from over 70 submissions we proudly present our vision of Solarpunk\, featuring 27 works from 19 artists spanning painting\, photography\, sculpture\, film and animation. Some concern themselves with the possible and practical\, some engage with Solarpunk through the metaphysical. From the collected works\, a world of regenerative biomaterials\, art nouveau\, solar energy\, mushrooms and local sovereignty emerges– offering tantalizing visions of how we could live if we turned away from the precipice of apocalypse.

SUMMARY:Whose Earth (Day)?
DESCRIPTION:Vital Matters is excited to host the 5th Annual Whose Earth (Day)?\nWhere: Lower Gwynns Falls Park\nWhen: April 22nd\, 4:30-7:30 \nWe have always held our Whose Earth (Day)? event in The Jones Falls watershed\, at Ivy Bookshop on Falls Road. Our Crossways project\, a long-term collaboration with communities across 4 watersheds in Baltimore City\, has the same question at its heart: “Whose Earth Is It?” \nThis year we invite you to meet members of Gwynns Falls Community who are working with us on this project\, and the land and water where they live. Help us ask questions like\, how can our processes of decision-making\, designing\, and maintaining our public green spaces and the waterways that run through them be more democratic\, community-based\, and hyper-local? \nTell us YOUR STORIES of water\, city parks\, construction and more. What watershed do you live in or grew up in? How have construction projects affected your green spaces and waterways? What futures can you dream for your part of Baltimore? \nBring the whole family\, and join Crossways team members Rejjia Camphor (Sister Stream Catcher)\, Sanahara Ama Chandra\, and Michele Minnick. How might we radically reimagine our river as the center of a reconnected and ecologically vibrant Baltimore? \nJones Falls 2076 is a speculative design project to envision aspirational and quixotic futures for the river in 2076\, half a century from now. This series of River Reimagining workshops\, art exhibitions\, discussions\, and publications will encourage radical dreaming and summon collective action on the future of the Jones Falls. \nJoin one of our six River Reimagining Workshops to think beyond the status quo and share your creative\, dream-like\, radical\, unexpected visions for the future of the Jones Falls. \nEach 90-minute workshop is limited to 25–30 participants to engender creativity\, participation\, and collaboration among a specific stakeholder group\, including: river and watershed advocates\, designers and planners\, environmental and community activists\, students and educators\, civic representatives and policymakers\, and scientists. \nThe ideas generated in the River Reimagining Workshops will be featured in Confluence: Reimagining Baltimore’s Waterways\, a forthcoming exhibition at AREA 405 opening on May 8\, 2026.\nThe Reimagining River Workshops are free\, but registration is required as space is limited. \nQuestions?\nhello@jonesfalls2076.org\nwww.jonesfalls2076.org\nFollow us on Instagram at @jonesfalls2076

SUMMARY:Syntropy / Entropy - A land based inquiry exploring possibilities for making\, creating\, and relating otherwise.
DESCRIPTION:Entropy: The universal tendency of order to decay towards disorder and chaos. Things fall apart. \nSyntropy: The universal tendency of complexity to emerge from disorder and chaos. Things come together. \nThis experimental land-based residency will weave together practices and provocations from\nGesturing Towards Decolonial Futures (GTDF)\, the evolved pedagogy and holding structures of\nBanana Mountain (our democratic unschool)\, and unfolding rhythms of reciprocity with this land; a\nsprawling\, semi-feral farm in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada (Spain) where the Trevélez and Guadalfeo rivers meet on their way from the mountains to the sea. \nThe residency has no fee\, no funding\, no pressure to produce\, and no pre-specified outcomes. It\noffers 4 – 10 participants an invitation into open-ended inquiry\, a space to be with and feel the\nweight of complexity\, complicity\, and collapse\, and to experiment with the tender possibilities of\nrelating\, responding\, and hoping otherwise\, in the company of others\, with no guarantees. \nThis inquiry will be held within a simple container of co-living (shared housing\, shared meals\,\nmutual care\, and consent-based decision-making)\, co-stewarding (15 hours per week of land work)\,\nand co-sensing (a weekly seminar using materials from GTDF). This container intends to offer\nenough structure to hold while leaving plenty of room for personal and collective exploration and\nemergent possibilities. \nThis residency is for folks with a personal or relational practice they would like to explore in\ndialogue with land\, who are drawn to the offerings of GTDF and ready to face complicity and\ncollapse\, who understand land-work as a way of being in relationship rather than a form of\nexchange\, who do not need or expect therapeutic holding or retreat-style comforts\, and who are\nready to participate in the co-creation of a living relational field that everyone involved is\nresponsible to\, and no one is responsible for. \nTo express your interest and/or find out more visit our website\, or email luke@uniondelosrios.org

SUMMARY:a Symposium on Expressway Removal and the Future of the Jones Falls
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday April 25th\, 2026\, The Congress for the New Urbanism Mid-Atlantic Chapter is convening a panel of local & national experts for a Symposium on Expressway Removal and the Future of the Jones Falls.\n\nRight now\, public interest around the Jones Falls Valley — its condition\, its potential\, and its future — is at the highest level we’ve seen in recent memory:\n\nAn unusual number of controversies menacing the health of the Jones Falls — ranging from sewage overflows\, lead paint flakes\, and a proposal to relocate a waste transfer station within the floodplain of the river — have sprung up in the last year. Initiatives like the Jones Falls Watershed Strategic Plan and Jones Falls 2076 are engaging local community members and stakeholders to plan and imagine the future of the watershed. The Jones Falls Gateway project promises to render the entrance to the Jones Falls Trail from Midtown Baltimore more accessible\, safe\, and legible.\n\nBut the elephant in the room remains the elevated interstate highway (I-83) that runs directly on top of the river. Removing lower portions of the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX) has been the object of study in the not-so-distant past\, but real organized momentum has remained elusive.\n\nNow is the time for Baltimore City to face the issue of expressway removal head-on\, and begin planning ahead.\n\nHow have local designers conceived of a liberated Jones Falls in the past? How have other cities succeeded in removing urban expressways? What elements are required in a successful expressway removal coalition? How do supporters make effective arguments in favor of removal?\n\nThese questions (and more) will be addressed in a series of presentations by the following panel of experts:\n	-Al Barry (Semi-retired transportation planner; Chair of the Jones Falls Watershed Steering Committee)\n	-Pavlina Ilieva (Principal at PI.KL; Baltimore City UDAAP Chair; former Morgan State SAP faculty)\n	-Gabriel Kroiz – (Associate Professor of Architecture at Morgan State SAP)\n	-Marc Wouters – (Principal at Marc Wouters Studios; expressway removal expert)\n\nWe will be joined by State Senator Antonio Hayes for some introductory remarks.\n\nBe sure to save the date and be on look out for further communications about this momentum-building event.
