Join us in Baltimore on May 25th at 3pm for a gallery tour of visual artist and designer Inna Alesina's new exhibition, The Gifts of Time, Space and Attention. The exhibition highlights the issues of invasive plants in Maryland, drawing on methods of forest foraging, sculptural "slow gifts," murals, watercolor, and more.

The EDC Book Club continues on May 29th as we chat with Cornell anthropologist Chloe Ahmann about her new book Futures After Progress: Hope and Doubt in Late Industrial Baltimore. Factory fires, chemical explosions, and aerial pollutants have inexorably shaped South Baltimore into one of the most polluted places in the country. In this book, Ahmann explores the rise and fall of industrial lifeways on the edge of the city and the uncertainties that linger in their wake.

Meanwhile, if you're curious about the amazing discussions we had last month with pathbreaking environmental artist Mary Mattingly, and environmental writer and theorist Anthony Galluzo, recordings of those chats are now online, dive in via these posts below.

Reminder! We've just launched a new feature on our online community platform: emoji reactions inspired by different elements of the natural world. We're hoping to make our online collective experience more ecologically-centered, vibrant and expressive. Whether you’re liking a post, feeling happy, sad, angry, or just stunned, there’s a reaction to share. Please give them a try!
