Save the date. Two EDC Book Club events coming soon...

On September 24th, 12 pm EST the EDC welcomes Jonathan Chapman to talk about his book, Meaningful Stuff: Design That Lasts, an exploration of how to restore meaning to our material worlds.

On October 2nd, 6 pm EST the EDC welcomes Eli Nixon to speak about their new book, Bloodtide, a handmade craft celebration of the fortitude of the horseshoe crab.

Both events will take place virtually on the EDC platform. Pick up their books and mark your calendars for these exciting events!

Join our Friends at the Climate Imaginarium for NYC Climate Week!

Visit the Climate Imaginarium on Governors Island during NYC Climate Week! From September 21-29, participate in 12 workshops on climate games, food justice, climate filmmaking, solarpunk, climate emotions, music, placemaking, and much more.

Prior to NYC Climate Week, the Climate Imaginarium will host a slow fashion film festival on September 13, a climate fiction writers workshop on September 14, and a festival of eco-arts performances with Artichoke Dance Company on September 15 — planned entirely on the EDC platform!

After Climate Week, stick around the Climate Imaginarium for a dance party to combat climate anxiety on October 5. On October 6, Jason Davis of Climate Stories Project will perform and host a workshop on the music of climate storytelling. Come play a hypertext climate game on October 12, and participate in a sacred cacao circle on October 13.

All events are free and open to the public. The Climate Imaginarium is located at 406A Comfort Road on Governors Island in New York City, and the EDC proudly hosts the Climate Imaginarium community on our platform.

Thank you to all who attended our first Grounding!

On August 27th, the EDC explored the Sumwalt Run, a river that once flowed through the heart of Baltimore and is now buried beneath our feet. A warm thank you to everyone who attended the event, and a special thanks to Bruce Willen for leading the tour. Be sure to check out more of his amazing work at his design and art studio, Public Mechanics. Stay tuned for news about our next Grounding coming this September, part of our Reimagining Land itinerary.

The EDC began as a vague idea here in Baltimore in the early days of the pandemic, and has since evolved into a network of hundreds of creative researchers, designers, writers, artists, and activists around the world. If you've been intrigued by this space and think you might have the energy to help build it further, consider joining our "Air Collective," as one of the curators of our virtual space.

Dance your way into autumn and check out what our EDC members have been sharing on the platform
