Join the EDC for a free workshop next week on the practice of natural dye making with indigo!

Guided by the traditions of resist dyeing from China, India, and Japan, participants will explore techniques that shape how fabric interacts with dye. Using an indigo vat cultivated in alignment with natural processes, attendees will create their own patterns on fabric. No previous experience is required—just a spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and play! The latest in our monthly "Groundings" series of Baltimore-based efforts at Reimagining Land.

Check out our new featured exhibit: Jana Kopelent Rehak

We are proud to feature the art of Dr. Jana Kopelent Rehak as we inaugurate a new featured exhibit space on the EDC platform. Rehak's art explores the interconnectedness of water, light, and memory through drawings and photography. Capturing the dance of shadows on stones, she uses her "camera eye" to document the reflections of sky and earth on the water's surface, while drawing inspiration from the "ocean crust" and the golden-brown depths of streams. Her work reflects a deep connection to both the natural world and her personal history, evoking sensory memories from her childhood in the Šumava mountains.

• Extreme Heat Fellowship: The Crow’s Nest, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, will be providing up to three fully subsidized studio residencies from March-October 2024. The selected cohort of artists will work towards a group show on the public health and ecological challenge of extreme heat, especially its impact on Baltimore communities.
• Student Essay Competition on Environmental Agreements: The Ronald Mitchell Prize will be awarded to the best student paper using the International Environmental Agreements Database (IEADB). Deadline for submissions is February 1st.
  
• BluePrint Opening: The opening party is on Sunday the 26th of January from 7 am to 2 pm. Check out the new cafe on 32nd Street between Charles and St. Paul in Charles Village!
  
• Conversation Series with Artist Asad Raza: Come listen in and converse with visionary Eco-artist Asad Raza as we discuss his ongoing work on a new art installation on the River Granta in Cambridgeshire. The talk will be held virtually on the EDC platform on February 11th.
