Here's how we're archiving those communications

Welcome to those who've joined us since we launched our new community platform two months ago. This post has important news for those who used our original interfaces.

We committed ourselves to open source communication tools instead of corporate social media when we began building this community in 2021. There's been some trial and error, and we've reached the point of retiring the first interfaces we used. Here's how to save your content and exchanges before we do.

We've archived the Discourse forum where we hosted our first public discussions and event posts, you'll find it here. The chat-based Mattermost Commons is more complicated because of the private messaging it supported. For those of you who used the Commons, here's how to save your exchanges and channel threads.

Please log in to the Commons as you did before, using your original login ID. You'll find a note on the Welcome channel with detailed instructions on how to download any message and channel threads you'd like to keep. You'll be able to do this anytime this February. The Mattermost Commons will be taken down at the end of this month. Please reach out if you have any trouble with this.

Whether you're newly with us or a member for some time now, please take a look at our new "2.0" community space, which includes a new Forum space for discussions as well as a robust messaging interface. Start a discussion on a subject you've been thinking about, maybe even a Group to work on this with others.

We'd appreciate it if you would take a moment to introduce yourself on the Timeline, even if you had done that before on our earlier platform. We're grateful for your company, and look forward to picking up the conversations in our new collective space.
