Join us for a social gathering at Union Collective!

EDC Happy Hour—Thursday at 6pm EDT

The EDC is hosting an in-person happy hour at Union Collective in Baltimore! Join us this Thursday evening at 1700 W. 41st St.

Each month we've been hosting informal social gatherings, dubbed “Tide Pools," alternating between in-person and virtual events. If you’re new to the EDC, this is a great opportunity to get looped in and connect with scholars, designers, artists, and dreamers about all things ecological!

Indian Ocean Worlds Book Club: October 4th, 3pm CEST

Join the Indian Ocean Worlds reading group in discussing this month’s selected book: Caterina Scaramelli’s How to Make a Wetland: Water and Moral Ecology in Turkey (Stanford University Press, 2021).

The event is hosted by a new group on the EDC platform, Sand Bundles. This is a public-facing offshoot of a research group titled ‘S.AND – The Future of Coastal Cities in the Indian Ocean‘ at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, Germany.

The group’s research focuses on the role of granular material in (re)shaping coastal ecologies and driving urban metabolisms. They are always looking for more “sand nerds” to stomp around in their sandbox. Feel free to stop by, request group membership and join the book discussion! (3pm CEST translates to 9am EDT for those on the East Coast in the US)

The readings will be circulated on the group page for those who RSVP!

Do you have a group in mind that doesn't yet have a home, or an idea that you've been kicking around? Our community platform is designed to support such organizing, especially with our new mobile apps. Please reach out with any ideas, we'd be happy to talk!
