Take a look at what's happening, add something to the mix

Times have been difficult for so many, even impossibly so. A sense of care, grief, and concern lead us to pay attention to what is happening. The magnitude of what we see can also be paralyzing.

The weight of all this is undeniable and real. But things keep happening at different scales. People and communities are organizing important ways to reflect and speak out about the course of things in the world at large. Take a look at the EDC event list below. Such events are crucial: they allow us to insist that the future remains open to negotiation.

At the EDC, we're grateful that people have been actively using our community event calendar as a collective resource. We want to take a moment to acknowledge the many things coming up, and the richness of what people have shared in the recent past. Help us keep this calendar going in the days ahead--by sharing something you're involved with, or something you've seen that seems relevant and meaningful. It's a way to build connections between the many places of this community.

Ours is a small space, admittedly, but there is an audience here. Close to nine hundred people have joined the EDC as members, and many others explore this space regularly as a public resource. Dozens of people drop in on the platform on any given day, we have seen, and hundreds of people check out our community space each month. We're excited that the digital advocacy organization New_Public included us in a very helpful new directory of digital public spaces working toward a "prosocial internet."

For all these reasons, we're keen on the potential of other resources that we've been developing, like the new Projects forum we launched this summer. It's a space to share works in progress for feedback and support, and we're hoping that the daylong collaborative Community Project Sprint on Wednesday will kick this off in earnest. Please join us sometime tomorrow and share your ideas for the world that we could see.
