Join us to mark the second anniversary of the brutal invasion of Ukraine with a celebration of Ukrainian culture and design. The Ecological Design Collective is collaborating with partners across Baltimore to promote the exhibition "Слава Україні! Slava Ukraini! Glory to Ukraine! Posters from the Odesa City Letters Project," on display at two locations -- the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) Brown Center and in downtown Baltimore at the Center for Architecture and Design -- from February 19 - March 15, 2024.

Mark your calendars for the in-person opening reception on Thursday, February 22, from 4:30-7:00 pm, at the MICA Brown Center, including a public lecture on "Decolonizing Ukrainian Design" and celebrating Ukrainian sweets and music with the Baltimore-Odesa Sister City Committee and Ukrainian refugee musicians Sasha and Volodymyr Sukhin. The Ecological Design Collective will be recording and posting this session for those unable to attend in person!

Our monthly tide pool social gathering is virtual this month. Join us to chat and draw or collage flora and fauna that are meaningful to you! Our virtual gathering is on Wednesday, February 21st at Noon ET, when we’ll transform a shared drawing board into a canvas for collective imagination. Let’s scribble and conjure alternate realities together. Click here for the prompt and sketch pad!

Join the EDC Eco Anthropologist Group for a conversation with Jerome Whitington & Zeynep Oguz about their recent article Geology, Power, and the Planetary: Earth as Praxis on Feb 26th at 12 EST. This will be our kickoff for regular meetings with anthropologists on writings about ecological issues. Anand Pandian and Fernando López Vega of Johns Hopkins will moderate this virtual conversation.

REMINDER! Join the EDC Book Club this month for a discussion of Merlin Sheldrake’s Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds, & Shape Our Futures. Join EDC curator Anand Pandian and poet and essayist Lia Purpura for an online chat about this evocative and captivating book on February 19th, 4-5pm EST.
