Season's happenings at the EDC

Ease into the holiday season by joining us next week for an online eco-film matinee. For our monthly Tide Pool social this December, we'll be gathering in the EDC Meeting Room next Wednesday the 20th at 1pm ET to watch a couple of shorts recently featured in the DC Environmental Film Festival. Here's more on the films, and the gathering, hope to see you then!

In the new year, meanwhile, we'll be kicking off a new EDC Book Club. We're planning to meet monthly to talk about recent books like Merlin Sheldrake's Entangled Life, Kohei Saito's Marx and the Anthropocene, Kim Stanley Robinson's Ministry for the Future, Kristin Ghodsee's Everyday Utopia, and any suggestions you might have.

EDC curator Anand Pandian, a writer and anthropology professor at Johns Hopkins University, will be moderating. Please take a minute with this quick planning survey if you'd like to join us for these monthly online chats, and join the EDC Book Club group on our platform to share what you've been reading.

For those who couldn't attend the Highway to Nowhere tour we hosted here in Baltimore earlier this fall, here's a chance to absorb what we saw and learned. We're delighted to share a new video documenting the walk through this tragic space of displacement, and a post recounting key lessons and questions. "Can we design for protest? What is public space? How should democratic space look?"
